add text it’s best to create your text in a word document rather than trying to write specifically within indesign indesign offers a lot of formatting tools but does not offer spell check or grammar correction and so therefore it’s better to create all your text in word now i’m going to open up a word document so i’m going to go ahead and highlight this text here we’re going to use that in place of our header now that i’ve clicked drag and highlighted i’m going to right click select copy go back to my indesign file click on the text box double click highlight that right click paste and as you can see we now have our header placed neatly within the text box but let’s say we want something that has a little more impact let’s say this font is too thin and we want it to be more bold so we’ll click highlight and up in this toolbar we have our typeface and we have our different fonts we select the drop down menu and we go to bold and now we’ve successfully changed the font of our header say you want to work a little faster so all you need to do is double click command a you can go back to your word document your paragraph and another way to speed this up is to do command c go back to your highlighted text in indesign select command b and now you have your text neatly placed in your text box now here’s another aspect that gets a little bit tricky bullet points we have some bullet points here and if you notice if you highlight these copy and then paste in here they’re not actual bullet points we can easily delete these so to format bullet points highlight go to type bulleted and numbered lists apply bullets and now we have bullet points and if you want to add anything else it will automatically format that for you and that’s how we add text and change font in indesign
